Dadabhai Naoroji

Called the grand old man of India, he was a multifaceted personality. Credited with being the first asian MP in the british parliament, one of the founders of Indian National Congress, a respected trader(in cotton) and professor( of gujarati at University College London).
His book, ' Poverty and Un-british rule in India' brought to attention the drain of wealth from India to Britain. Even during his tenure in the British Parliament, he continued to press for the improvement of economic conditions on Indians.
He was politically active and served as the president of INC during 1886,1893 and 1906 sessions. He was a moderate voice within congress and served as the binding force between the moderates and radicals.
