It is normal to be stressed when preparing for a competetion as tough as IAS. However, the key thing is to realise why you are stressing and look at it from a third persons point of view. Take yourself away from the situation and see it form a distance. Lets say a very large distance, how about stellar distance.
Need help then just read through these points-
1) Light takes light 8.3 seconds to reach earth. From moon it takes 1.29 seconds.
2) Universe is 13.6 billion years old. There are multiple universes so lets call it Multi-verse?
3) Time taken from big bang to maximum expansion to full contraction is 42 billion years.
4) Our sun has 5 billion years before it turns into a red giant. Guess we wont be here to see the max. extent of the universe :(
5) There are more stars in the Galazy than there are people. Choose your start!
6) There may be 2.5 Billion habitable planets in our milky way alone. Maybe your soulmate is born accidentally on the wrong one? Odds are pretty high ;)
7) Keep on hearing about light years? Its ~ 9.5 trillion Kms.
8) One Astronomical unit= distance between earth and sun= 150 million Kms. pretty close eh!
9) Next closest star proxima century is 4.2 ly away. Next one Alpha century is 4.3 ly and Bernard's star is 6.2 ly next one Lalande's star is 8.0 ly. Smart choice Bernard and Lalande :P
10) One cosmic year is the time taken by sun to go around our Galaxy. It is 250 million years? Want to go for a ride? freeze yourself :)
11) Till now 88 constellations have been identified. Didnt you always guess that the zodiac readings done match you? this is the cause; ask them to update it!
12) Now some Gita lessons; what is born dies. Even starts do, but in some style. if its less than 1.44 times, it will become a white dwarf and be consumed by a black hole, if its between 1.44 and 320 times, it will cause a supernova explosion and become a neutron star, If its still larger it will become :) a Black hole!!
13) There is matter in the space which we cant detect, but comes into picture when you measure gravitational pull between bodies. It is called dark matter.
14) There has to be some force that is causing the universe to expand. We dont know again what it is so we call it dark energy. Cooool!
15) Sun has 99.85 % of the solar systems mass.
Now look at some tragedies of large scale -
1) Jupiter is a miscarried star!
2) Mercury is shrinking. The constant bombardment of the sun is causing it to shrink.
3) Venus has almost the same rotation 243 and revolution 224 days. Its also the hottest.
4) Uranus is called the rolling planet becuse it rotates north to south.
5) Pluto had its status as a planet taken away!
6) There are stars being sucked alive by black holes.
7) The star you are looking at in the sky could be dead long back.
Now some happy stuff-
1) Jupiters huge gravitational pull saves us from a lot of asteriods that could have destroyed earth.
2) The rotation of venus is opposite of the rest of the planets (clockwise). Some hypothesis say it was caused due to impact from a massive asteroid. That could have been us!
3) In due time, most of earth's air and water will escape into space, but we have a lot of time!
So how about now? About that girl/guy that ditched you? Or the friends that ignore you? Or the exam you failed?
Well, your career, hobbies, job, interests, family friends they dont matter... but also they do matter the most. Strike the balance :)
